Most traders backtest the wrong thing. This lesson argues that treating backtesting as an exercise in numbers, patterns and win rates misses what actually determines whether you can trade a strategy. The point of the process is to discover how you behave inside it: what you do during a losing run, whether you take every valid setup or quietly skip the uncomfortable ones, and how your decisions change as the size of the account changes. The lesson explains why situations that look survivable in a spreadsheet become impossible in practice, and how proper backtesting exposes that in advance rather than in a live account. It sets out how to run the process so that it builds genuine confidence in both the system and your ability to execute it.
